Ordinary words can hold special meanings. Sometimes it’s just the way a word sounds, or the cherished memories that a word brings back. We asked you to tell us your stories, and it became a book.

In celebration of Hangeul Day, we invited Korean learners around the world to share their favorite Korean words and why they matter. We received 1,033 heartfelt stories from learners in over 100 countries. From those submissions, 108 Korean words and their stories were carefully selected and compiled into this book.

The 109th word? That's for you to add. This book is complete only when you write down the Korean word that means the most to you.

Our Beloved Korean Words, 109 began as a special project to celebrate the beauty of the language. What started as a small but meaningful gift is now finally available for purchase, so that more people can read these stories and share what we created together.

This book exists because of the 974 participants who took the time to reflect, write, and share what Korean words mean to them. This collection is a reminder that language is not just something we study, but something we feel, remember, and carry with us.
